The Lincoln Glen Junior All-Stars may not be perfect but you wouldn’t know it by what they have done on the field so far this All-Star season. After going 4-0 to win the District 12 tournament on July 7th, the Junior team continued their winning ways be going 3-0 to win the Section 5 tournament on Tuesday, July 17th.
Lincoln Glen started off the tournament, on Saturday July 14th, by defeating Continental Little League (Salinas) 12-5 in the opening game. Joe Hutchings started on the mound, and earned the victory, and was followed by Ian Leath, Derek Bauerle and Anthony Navarro and all of the players on the team contributed to a big offensive day.
In the second game of the double elimination tournament the team faced Homestead Santa Clara on Sunday. In a hard fought battle the Lincoln Glen team was able to hold on for a 7-6 victory with Jack Rothenberg earning the victory. The eventual winning run was scored when Alejandro Hernandez lead off the top of the seventh with a double. He eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Joe Hutchings. In the bottom of the seventh trialing 7-3, Homestead mounted a rally and scored three runs. With two runners on base the next batter hit a line drive that was caught by Robbie Stewart to end the game.
On Tuesday, July 17th, the Junior All-Star team capped off the Section 5 tournament by defeating Gilroy Little League 6-4 in a thrilling victory. Tyler Rando lead the way offensively with three hits and three runs batted in. Jack Rothenberg had two doubles and Drew Valenzuela and Brandon Cramer had key hits during the game. One of the key plays in the game was Connor Edson scoring from first on a hit and run single to right field off the bat of Derek Bauerle with Edson scoring on a throwing error by the right fielder.. Joe Hutchings earned his second victory of the tournament leaving the game in the seventh with a 6-1 lead.

Manager Mike Mazzoni, coaches Doug Foster and Randy Leath.
The Junior team next plays on Saturday, July 21th at 1pm in the Division 2 (Northern California championship) tournament. The Divisional tournament be played in Stockton at Bear Creek High School.
